Where Did You Get That Puppy?

By Lisa Amos

A couple of months ago, I attended the Regina Kennel and Obedience Club dog show. Since this is my home town I always try to make it to this event. This way, not only do I get to visit with my family, but they too get to attend a dog show. The show weekend hadn't been anything spectacular for the three Siberians that I had with me. However, one of my females just seemed to get more and more excited as the weekend progressed.

On the third day of the show, I took my misbehaving female into the ring. She was completely wired. She ran or hopped instead of gaiting. She didn't bait, she barked and jumped, and laid down. She wouldn't stand for examination, she kissed the judge, barked, howled and sat. She wouldn't do a down and back, she did circles at the end of the lead, butt scooted, and barked. We tried several times for a down and back, but this just did not happen.

Not only was the judge laughing, but taking a look into the crowd, so was everyone else. People that I have known in dogs for ages, Siberian people that just couldn't resist the show, my family and friends. And still, my female partied on, never once stopping and behaving for the crowd. The laughter just got her going even more. I had no choice, as corrections went the opposite, but to just stand there, red faced, and laugh along with everyone else.

The rest of that day outside the ring, numerous people approached me and asked where I got my "beautiful puppy" from. I asked them to describe her and of course, every inquiry was about the one who misbehaved so badly in the ring. Exhibitors, breeders, and spectators alike, wanted to know, "Where Did You Get That Puppy?"

Well, I have to tell you. That "puppy" was none other than my Cinna - Can Ch Multi UKC BIS Ch Cardium's Cinful Cinnibar. For those of you who know her, you will all remember that she turned seven years old last April. Yes, my incredibly misbehaving Siberian puppy, was my dual titled, multi Best In Show winning, VETERAN.
